{Poconos wedding photography}
Rachel and Luke's wedding marked the first Quaker wedding we have ever photographed. Both Josh and I are admirers of Quaker philosophy and this interest, coupled with the fact that Rachel and Luke are awesome, had us really looking forward to this particular day.
Pocono Lake Preserve is a somewhat remote private Quaker community and beautiful place for a rustic outdoor wedding in the Poconos. We photographed Rachel and Luke's engagement session there since it is relatively close to Jim Thorpe (and because we figured it would be good to figure out where in the world this place was before the wedding day!). It is a pretty special place, even more so for Rachel and her family who have had a family cabin there for at least three generations or roughly 100 years.
Josh and I both agreed that this was the most Oregonian of all the weddings we have shot since moving back to the East Coast. It could've had a bit to do with the weather. It was a bit overcast and chilly at this mid-September wedding and the forest had a bit of the magical Northwest feel. It could also have had something to do with the rustic/earthy/green wedding style. Integrating the natural beauty of the Preserve into the day was important to Rachel and Luke and the details reflected their love of the outdoors. And clearly the kind, fun-loving group of people involved in the day brought us back to the days when we felt more like guests at the wedding than the help. Thank you Rachel and Luke for trusting us to capture the story of your day! It was a pleasure. Scroll on to view some of our favorite moments and details!
