Joe and Amy's
wedding at Ledges Hotel
Ledges Hotel in Hawley, PA is a very unique wedding location in the Poconos. It is part of Hawley's historic silk mill complex, modernized with eco-friendly touches and nestled into a gorge with a seasonal waterfall running through it. It is not surprising that the atmosphere and food are both amazing considering the hotel's parentage. It is operated by the owners of the Settlers Inn, whose charming authentic atmosphere and commitment to farm-to-table catering have made it one of our favorite places.
Amy is an interior designer and used her professional talents to pull together all the gorgeous details of her wedding. She had a strong vision of the day and described to me in the planning stages how the colors, lights and textures would all come together in contrast with the rugged natural setting to create a "diamond in the rough" feel. I loved Joe's tux (and shoes!). I thought perhaps it was Amy's keen eye at work, but he proudly claimed the credit for his style. Everything (and everyone!) looked sharp and the style had a feel that was classic yet modern at the same time.
It was wonderful being part of this wedding. Amy and Joe are a fun couple and they (and their family and friends) know how to have a good time! I shot this one solo and appreciate everyone's confidence in me, considering how pregnant I am. Although beautiful, the terrain at Ledges is pretty rugged and I owe a huge thank you to my assistant Shawn McCarty for helping keep me on my feet:-) Mr. McCarty was also quite handy as a lighting assistant and even wielded the camera a bit to help out. The aerial shot of Amy and Joe's first dance is thanks to his photo skills. Scroll on to find this and other favorite moments from the day!
