Sherri and Steve's elegant Lehigh Valley wedding

Sherri and Steve are two stylish foodies who know how to throw a spectacular party! Steve is the chef at Bethlehem’s own Apollo Grill, where a mutual friend first introduced the couple. Their wedding reflected Sherri and Steve's subtle sophistication, their love of gourmet food and their amiable fun-loving nature.

The ceremony was in historic Central Moravian Church’s Old Chapel after which guests were treated to a butterfly release in honor of the marriage celebration. We used the Old Chapel’s beautiful stone exterior as a backdrop for bridal party formals then took a short walk on Main St. We arrived at Brookside Country Club with plenty of time for the couple to take a brief stroll around the grounds for photos and then enjoy their cocktail hour. This gave us the opportunity to photograph the decor.

The floral arrangements created by Elysian Fields reminded me to continue to recommend them as one of the best wedding florists in the Lehigh Valley. I loved how every time Sherri walked past I would catch a whiff of her bouquet. And the short and tall center pieces on the tables were amazing, so full of texture. The wedding colors were chosen with a wine theme in mind which Elysian Fields did a beautiful job of illustrating. The couple kept with the wine theme and named their tables after their favorite vineyards. Sherri also came up with very cute and apropos wine cork place cards.

Naturally food was extremely important to Sherri and Steve and it speaks volumes that they entrusted Brookside’s Chef Brad Fisher to prepare the couple’s custom-designed entrees, which included a choice of Barramundi with champagne grape reduction, lemon beurre blanc sauce with toasted almonds and Fillet with pomegranate reduction.  In addition to the fine cuisine, the scenery, facilities and service make Brookside an excellent choice for a country club wedding in the Lehigh Valley.

Sherri and Steve were also picky about who they chose to create their wedding cake. The couple selected none other than Carlo’s Bakery of Hoboken, NJ (AKA “The Cake Boss”) to design their custom wedding cake, which was a replicate of a crate transporting four wine bottles nestled in a bedding of straw and grape clusters. The amazing design was entirely edible and when the “crate” was cut guests were treated to sinfully delicious chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, topped with fresh raspberries and chocolate ganache with fondant icing.  And for those who still hadn’t satisfied their sweet tooth, trays of Italian pastries and cookies topped off the evening of simply elegant food, wine, and dancing.

Other highlights: During the vows, Steve was surprised to learn that he was being asked to give up his crab cake recipe as part of the deal. The couple pulled a prank on the groom's brother and served him a hot dog for dinner, (which we're pretty sure he kept anyway). Sirius Orchestra seriously rocked the house, keeping almost everyone on their feet and dancing throughout the evening. For wedding favors, guests were treated to a bottle of California wine from one of the couple's favorite vineyards.
