Clare and Ryan's wedding at Bank St. Annex

Clare + Ryan

Wedding in Bethlehem, PA (Saints Simon and Jude Church)
Reception Venue in Easton, PA (Bank St. Annex)

Wow. What a beautiful wedding! Who knew there was such beauty in a cold, wet winter day?

Clare and Ryan planned a winter wedding with classy, vintage style. She complimented her Maggie Sottero gown with a vintage mink caplet, ladies white gloves and cathedral length veil. Ryan looked sharp in his tuxedo with a classic white bow tie. The gorgeous stone church was decked out with poinsettias, lighted wreaths and trees and (my favorite) a stunning Moravian star for the Christmas Season.

One of the biggest challenges of winter wedding photography is the early sunset. The early nightfall can also potentially be hastened by dense cloud cover, as was the case on Clare and Ryan's rainy wedding day. We rolled out for portraits at just about half an hour before the sun officially set, but really, it was already gone. In spite of the drizzle and waning light, we couldn't be happier with the portraits!

The reception was held at Bank St. Annex in Easton, one of the best locations for a ballroom wedding reception in the Lehigh Valley. The reception was candlelit with subtle use of wall lighting. Again, another lighting challenge. We used a mono-light (strobe) to help create some dramatic photos without killing the ambient lighting in this cavernous ballroom.

Check out some of our favorite photos from the day:
