Rosalynn and Joe's
family portrait session
Although they are getting married next month, Rosalynn and Joe have been together for about ten years. They met while Joe was traveling for work through Roz's small western PA town. Since then they have made a family together with three fantastic children - Sophia, Foster and Coen. We like to do an engagement session with all of our wedding clients and when Roz asked if we could include the kids, we agreed.
I shot this one several weeks ago and I was very glad for the opportunity to get to know the whole family better. Kids are always full of surprises on wedding days, so I especially appreciated the chance to capture them in more of an everyday context. We chose an old farm for the setting with a tire swing and plenty of room for the kids to run around. We had a great time!
This post is a little heavier on the black and whites than usual because I wanted to emphasize the moments and kids' expressions. Classic black and white is so good for bringing out both. I think my favorite moment was when Sophia and Coen discovered some burdock burrs and Roz let me in on the name she knew them by as a kid - "booby lice!" Funny enough, I am pretty sure I've heard them called that before. Have any of you PA-Dutchies out there heard this too??? Also, in the photo above, little Coen brought that stool over to sit by Mom and Dad all by himself. So adorable! Check out some of our other favorites below!
