Melanie and Peter's engagement photos in Brooklyn

Melanie and Peter's engagement session in Brooklyn, NY

Hard to believe we almost rescheduled this session because we were afraid of the weather forecast. It was a beautiful day for a walk in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. We usually like to meet up for a drink prior to an engagement session and Melanie recommended the Thistle Hill Tavern in Park Slope. What a great place! We had lunch there early then scouted the park before meeting Melanie and Peter back at the tavern for the session. We had fun getting to know Melanie and Peter and got a lot of exercise in the process. Prospect Park is huge! But Melanie and Peter know their way around it. It's their neighborhood park and they spend a lot of time there with their dog. Although they will have their wedding in Pennsylvania this summer, we were glad to do their engagement photos in New York since it is an important part of their story. Check out some of our favorite moments from the session below.

Christi and TJ's wedding in Philadelphia

Christi and TJ are a very sweet, laid back couple. Throughout the planning process we went through with them, it was easy to tell that they were going to be relaxed and have a good time on their wedding day. They planned to meet before their ceremony for portraits to maximize time spent with friends and family at the cocktail hour and reception. And although preparation ran a bit later then planned, Christi and TJ kept their cool and everything went off beautifully.

Christi and TJ's wedding was inspired by their love of all things vintage and Asian. The vintage feel was supported by the historic yet thoroughly modern Chestnut Club, a refurbished early 20th century theater that makes for a great wedding venue in Center City Philadelphia. Christi's gown by Oleg Cassini and bird cage veil put me in mind of something Veronica Lake might have worn. So glamorous! Wedding caterers Sage served up some tasty dishes, including some Asian themed fare, and they helped ensure that the table presentation was lovely. I loved how the pink of the cherry blossoms in the centerpieces looked with the green of the potted bamboo favors Christi and TJ gifted to their guests.

Then there was the case of the disappearing cupcake. Master Bakers crafted some super cute bride and groom wedding cupcakes for Christi and TJ to enjoy, however, some one made off with the groom's cupcake. At the end of the night, when we had just about given up on it, the Chestnut Club's event coordinators found it (good job Joey!). No ransom note or anything. Just as mysteriously as it disappeared, it was returned, unharmed.

I included some fun shots from the photo "booth" we set up at the reception. Christi shopped around for some festive props and her guests had a blast modeling them for us! Between the photo booth props and the colorful silken umbrellas that the groom's Uncle Eddie brought for a mummers dance, the reception festivities took on a carnival feel.

2011 is off to a great start! Check out some of our favorites from our first wedding of the year!
