Organic Florist in the Lehigh Valley

We recently had the privilege of photographing a wedding that featured the floral designs of the amazing Sarah Petryk. Sarah is a florist in the Lehigh Valley and has honed her impeccable taste over the course of her 10+ years as an event planner. Many of her creations are grown or foraged right on her family farm, hence the name of her business- Allium Design at Black River Farms. She employs organic gardening practices and favors heirloom varieties. If you are looking for organic flowers in the Lehigh Valley or a seasonal bouquet in the Lehigh Valley, Sarah is the florist for you.

Organically grown flowers are a great alternative. Conventional flowers are often grown with the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and preservatives. Sarah favors heirloom varieties of flowers, which means that the seeds are sustainably produced and harvested. She reaches as far as South America for her flowers in the off-season, but when it is the growing season in Pennsylvania, she utilizes flowers, berries, and wild forage from her own farm and from local purveyors. Choosing local over imported flowers lessens the carbon footprint of your bouquet.

Check out our photos of Sarah's flowers and visit her site (http://www.alliumfloraldesign.com) to see more. She is so talented! Sarah did not only the bouquets and boutonnières, but also dressed the cake and table, did the center pieces and embellished other features of the reception hall (as in the picture above).

Lehigh Valley Wedding Photographer

We recently photographed Stephanie and Ryan's wedding in the Lehigh Valley.  The couple planned to hold a Catholic wedding ceremony on a Sunday which is apparently unheard of in many Catholic churches. Most Catholic weddings are on a Saturday. Thankfully, Steph found Connelly Chapel at DeSales University was happy to accommodate. So they held the wedding at DeSales University and the wedding reception at Brookside Country Club in Emmaus. We stopped at Lock Ridge Furnace in between for a photo session with the bridal party. What a blast! I know it must be a Lehigh Valley wedding photography staple, but it was our first time working there.

We enjoyed getting to know Steph and Ryan. Stephanie currently (and affectionately) holds the record for taking the longest to book us (a little over 4 months). She was very thorough in the process of planning her wedding. By the time we photographed their wedding, it felt like we were old friends. We are very glad they chose us to be their wedding photographers. It was a beautiful day.

Photographers in Jim Thorpe

Jill and Brian met us recently for engagement portraits in Jim Thorpe.  Jim Thorpe, a beautiful little victorian town nestled in the mountains of Carbon County, is one of our favorite engagement portrait locations. The area is a virtual playground for photographers. A good example is the location in the first photograph below, although, I don't think we'll be taking any more clients there. It seems to be private property now (or has it always been?) and there is some excavation going on as if the owner plans to build soon. Poor Jill had her foot swallowed whole in quicksand-like mud at the site. We were so embarrassed, but Jill and Brian were so cool. They just laughed, cleaned up and kept on rolling. We were so grateful. It is no wonder the photos came out so well. Check them out:
