Astoria, Oregon Wedding Photography

This is the second post in our Oregon wedding photography series. Now is a popular time to book wedding photography in Oregon, so Josh and I are blogging about our favorite wedding venues in Oregon to give interested brides and grooms an idea of what is out there. The last post was on vineyard weddings in Oregon and we showed a few examples of Oregon vineyard wedding photography.  This post focuses on a less common wedding venue in Oregon, a hotel on the Oregon Coast that hosts weddings- the Hotel Elliot. The Hotel Elliot, an Astoria hotel on the register of national historic landmarks, is a charming venue for weddings of 50 or fewer guests. From start to finish, the wedding featured in this entry took place within the hotel. With the weather on the coast being so unpredictable, it is wise to plan an Oregon coast wedding at a site that has plenty of indoor accommodations. So here is an example of Oregon coast wedding photography, with the coast no where in sight!

Lehigh Valley wedding cakes

Josh and I recently had the pleasure of befriending the proprietors of The Flour Shop Bakery in Bethlehem, PA. The Flour Shop's head bakers, Michael Corrigan and Brian Murphy, have commendable experience including ties to two Lehigh Valley farm-to-table restaurants, the Glassbern Inn in Fogelsville and the Farmhouse in Emmaus.  The Flour Shop is a great place to get a wedding cake in the Lehigh Valley. Their designs are exceptional and taste phenomenal. Beyond their fabulous cakes, they also offer delicious artisan breads and savories, such as their yummy cheese croissant (thanks again, Michael!).   But if you are looking for wedding cake in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton or anywhere near the Lehigh Valley, hands down, The Flour Shop is our top recommendation.

Check out some pictures we took of a few of their designs:

Lehigh Valley Bridal Show

Josh and I did the Northeastern PA Bridal Show in the Lehigh Valley this weekend. It was our first bridal show and we came away feeling good about the experience. The weather deterred people on Saturday and it was somewhat slow on Sunday, but that meant that we got to spend more time talking with both prospective clients and other vendors. It was fun getting to know other folks in the Lehigh Valley wedding industry, especially other Lehigh Valley wedding photographers. Josh and I look forward to geeking out with them (the photographers) in the future. The full value of this show will come over the next few weeks and months as we hopefully hear from brides and grooms we met at the show and relationships begin to grow with the vendors we met.

As for our booth design, we were pretty pleased with the effect of the design. Maybe it would have been fun to bring our own rug or flooring to really transport visitors to a completely different space, but overall, we were happy.  We particularly loved the open floor plan, which invited people into the space to interact with our work and us.  Plus the seating was great because it allowed folks to get comfortable and check out our sample album. We felt it was a nice touch only having one album so as not to overwhelm people. Nearly everyone who opened the 36 page album, looked at it from start to finish. If they weren't into getting an album at all or one of that particular type, at least they viewed full length coverage from one wedding. We can't say as much for the slideshow. Only one couple stayed at length to view the slideshow after taking everything else in. Most only watched the show for a few moments, (perhaps resolving to view this work on our website later if interested?).

Wedding at a Vineyard in Oregon

Wedding planning season in Oregon in here! It seems that brides and grooms-to-be in Oregon get serious about making their wedding plans in January. In an effort to reach out to these folks, Josh and I thought we'd start sharing work from our favorite Oregon wedding venues.

If you are planning a wedding in Oregon, a vineyard wedding is an excellent way to go.  There are many excellent vineyard settings to choose from including King Estate, Hinman, Sweet Cheeks, and Chateau Lorraine among others.

Here are a few shots from a wedding Josh shot assisting for Glen Johnson at McMenamin's Troutdale, a wedding venue near Portland, Oregon.
