Liza and Kevin's wedding at Mountain Springs Lake Resort

Occasionally during a new client meeting, the client will think to ask, "What happens if something happens to one or both of you and you are unable to make the wedding?" We've always began our answer to that question with, "Well, it hasn't happened yet," and then we go on to mention the numerous professional wedding photographers we are honored to count among our friends who we would call upon in case of an emergency. Well the morning of Liza and Kevin's wedding, Josh fell ill and was admitted to the hospital (don't worry, he's ok!). And so we got to test out our contingency plan.

It only took a few phone calls and about 20 minutes before our friend Douglas Benedict (Lehigh Valley wedding photographer) volunteered to assist me for the day. We are also grateful to our friends at Littlewing Studio and PhotOle Photography who also were both eager to lend a hand. Doug is a good buddy and a rockin' photographer and since we have experience working together, I couldn't have asked for a better assistant. I bet you'll have no problem picking out which of the images below are his (hint: look for bold composition/angles). He's a magician with the 50mm and 24mm lenses. Thanks so much Doug! We hope to pass on or return the favor someday.

Notes on the wedding: Liza and Kevin were super cool. There was never a moment when they weren't comfortable or enjoying themselves (well, maybe except when the mosquitoes came out at dusk!). I loved Liza's dress by Maggie Sottero and the feathered hair piece she fashioned herself (pictured below). Her flowers (by Best Buds) were fantastic. She had the florist put together an eclectic mix of flowers that seemed to celebrate the abundant variety of late summer. I thought the wheat grass flat surrounded by daisies (pictured below) made a cute place card holder. Best Buds is located just north of Allentown, making them an easy choice for wedding flowers in the Poconos. Mountain Springs Lake Resort delivers a beautiful and serene outdoor wedding location in the Poconos with a nice indoor option in case the weather turns.

Check out my favorite photos from the day!

I Love the black and white of the group. It is so lovely, as is all of your work, but this one is just "stand alone", lovely.

Amber, Josh & Doug - thank you so much for a great set of photos. When we heard about Josh's situation that morning we did not really know how to react. We were more concerned about Josh than anything else.

Amber kept everything in perspective and maintained her professionalism the entire time. Douglass was obviously talented and knew exactly what we wanted, and to us everything went according to plan. Thanks again!
