Jerrica and Matt | Married!

Jerrica and Matt's
wedding in Philadelphia

When Jerrica first contacted us, she knew that she wanted to work with us for her engagement and wedding photos, but the other details of the wedding were still up in the air. I met her and Matt last fall for their engagement session in Jim Thorpe. We had a great time shooting and made some gorgeous photos. Jerrica and Matt were still in the process of finalizing their wedding location and date, so we agreed to check back in once they got that far. Time went by and when we reconnected, I discovered that they were thinking of heading in a completely different direction with their wedding plans. Jerrica and I talked and she told me that rather than a big traditional wedding, she and Matt were dreaming of a small wedding in Philadelphia. Their plan was to keep it simple - plan a dinner at a restaurant essentially - and invite only their immediate family and closest friends. They initially hoped to do a city hall ceremony (especially because Jerrica is in love with the city hall building), but it turned out to be much less hassle to hire their own officiant. We'd shot a wedding at Davios in Center City Philadelphia previously and recommended them. The couple fell in love with the rooftop ceremony site that allowed them to be married nestled among some of the skyscrapers that grace the Philly skyline.

Free from the schedule of a traditional wedding day, Jerrica and Matt set aside two hours before their ceremony for portraits of just the two of them. We called an Uber black car and hit up some of the classic Philadelphia wedding portrait locations with a bit of a twist. We skipped Love Park and headed for the Dilworth Park fountain instead. Jerrica took off her shoes and they went in! It wasn't the last time that day she went barefoot. I didn't notice until I was editing, but she also walked barefoot down the aisle - which fit perfectly with her laid-back, bohemian style. These two were so gorgeous that we were approached by a woman on the street who asked if they were a real bride and groom. When told they were, she gushed, "You are going to make beautiful babies!" I agree wholeheartedly:-) Congratulations Jerrica and Matt! Thank you so much for trusting me to capture the story of your day in photos. Scroll on to check out some of our favorite moments.
