Valerie and Andy | Engaged!

Valerie and Andy's
Engagement Session in Jim Thorpe

Passing through the Poconos on their way back to Hoboken, Val and Andy stopped by to see us on a gorgeous spring day for their engagement photos. Andy is a fire captain and Val works in advertising and they've known each other since they were teenagers. The light was nice down by the river (where Andy had rafted several years ago) and we had a great time taking a stroll down Race St., shooting at Jim Thorpe's "stone row." They had their adorable puppy Ralphie in tow so of course we worked him into a few photos at the end of the session. Scroll on to check out some of our favorites!

Matted Parent Albums

Dana and Colin's Gorgeous Parent Albums

For Dana and Colin, their parents' albums were almost a bigger priority than their own. To thank their parents for all their help with the wedding, they wanted to get their parents their favorite photos ASAP. They loved the traditional feel of the 800R matted albums. We love the cool silver/grey/green color scheme they chose. Scroll on for a glimpse of these beautiful books!

These are 10x10 800R matted albums with Euro Olive leather covers, silver gilding, charcoal mattes, and silver liners.

The 800R has a linen hinge at the binding.

I often refer to these books as "traditional" but I love them because they remind me of the simple presentation of artwork on a gallery wall. The vellum page opposite the first photo completes the gallery presentation feel.

I like the look of collaged photos mounted and the diptych here has a nice feel.

Vegan Wedding Albums

A Tale of Two Vegan Weddings

We were psyched to photograph two vegan weddings this year. Featured in this entry are the wedding albums of Samantha and Mark and Lindsay and Paul. They both chose Leathercraftsmen's newest non-leather album cover material, the linen-like Countryside Book Cloth, which comes in Light and Dark. The two shades of Countryside Book Cloth are subtly different and having the two side by side was a nice opportunity to compare.  In the above photo, the Light cloth is shown on the two outer albums (Samantha + Mark) and the Dark cloth is on the inner books (the thicker book with the cover photo). As an interesting aside, both albums have roughly the same number of pages - Samantha and Mark's slimmer 3500 series album actually has a few more (40 vs 38). But Lindsay and Paul's album is the flush/matte hybrid 8500 series album and as such is significantly thicker. I'll make more notes on their albums below. Enjoy!

Lindsay and Paul's album is a 12x12 8500 with 38 pages. Like the 3500 flush, the 8500 flush/matte hybrid has square corners and a flat spine.

This album comes standard with gilding however Lindsay and Paul opted to skip it.

Each of these photos is mounted by hand to the matte with a liner framing the image. There are several matte and liner colors available. Lindsay and Paul chose classic black mattes with white liners.

Although there are 5 images in this spread, these two pages actually only have two 8x10s mounted. The print on the left is a collage.

In this spread, there is a collaged 8x10 on the right and a letter box 8x12 print on the left. Letter boxes are among the "special mount" options available in this style of album.

This spread is a flush full panorama, meaning there is no visible matte. You are looking at a 12x24 photo.

Although this album has the option of traditional-feeling matte pages, the binding is the same as the more modern feeling flush mount albums.

A collage spread toward the end of the album is a great way to work in favorite shots of guests.

This is another "special mount" option, a 3/4 pano. The black strip at the left is an exposed matte.

Since there was no other cover imprinting, we tucked our logo snuggly on the last page instead of on the rear cover.

Samantha and Mark's album is a 10x10 3500. Their two parent albums are 7x7 8500s.

The parent albums are the flush/matte hybrid 8500 series albums. In this order, there were no flush pages included. However, choosing this style kept the binding style consistent with the modern feel of the 3500 and allowed their parents to choose the photos they wanted in each album.

The parent albums are covered in the Black Natural Book Cloth with gold imprinting and gilding.

Every spread in this album is a 10x20 print with no visible matte.

Flush Mount Wedding Albums

Leandra and Dan's
12x12 3500 and mini 5x5 companion

For the title page of their album, Leandra sent me the font she used throughout her wedding day ephemera (it's called "lavanderia" for all you type nerds out there).

Groom prep, although less lengthy, can be a lot of fun:-)

It's nice when we have time for bride-only portraits, they make a lovely addition to the album.

Simple layouts like this one help showcase amazing portraits and give visual balance to the busier spreads in an album.

Leandra's fabulous DIY wedding details in all their glory!

I love the progression here. Notice the font matches the title page too.

The last page of the album, a portrait from around sunset in a field of "wishes."

Clean and simple, ungilded page edges with square corners.

A lovely ceremony spread within the mini companion/parent album.
